Not a good day

She is a very sick little girl with a condition called Citraullinemia-Classic. Her liver is not getting rid of the amino acids through her liver. He liver is failing and if the medication doesn't work she will likely need a liver transplant. She has been admitted to Texas Children's in the NICU.

There are multiple treatment methods. Low protein diets, are intended to minimize production of ammonia. Arginine, sodium benzoate and sodium phenylacetate help to remove ammonia from the blood. Dialysis may be used to remove ammonia from the blood when it reaches critical levels. In some cases, liver transplant has been successful.

I will most likely spend the night cramming for my medical exam in the morning. a lot of information to sort through mentally at this point. I have been in a digital black hole for three days so I have not gotten a lot of messages in or out.
